According to the federal government, the nation’s top hemp producers in 2022 were Montana, Oregon, and South Dakota. The three western states reported the highest number of hemp acres planted and harvested per the US Department of Agriculture National Agricultural Statistics Service‘s second Hemp Acreage and Production survey.
The states combined planted 8,400 acres of hemp, about 30 percent of the national total of 28,314 acres.
